First Baptist Church is excited to announce that it has called Rev. Steven Norris as the next Senior Pastor to lead our church. Steven has served as the Associate Pastor of First Baptist since May 2018.
Steven is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, the North Carolina School of the Arts, and Gardner-Webb University with degrees in music and theology. He has served churches in Mississippi and North Carolina as a music minister and senior pastor. Steven has also served as an adjunct professor for Gardner-Webb University and as the chair of the theology department at a Christian College Preparatory school in Western North Carolina. He was also an active freelance bass trombonist, playing with numerous symphonies throughout the southeastern United States and author of multiple books.
Steven has been married to Michelle Norris, a special education teacher, for 18 years and they have two boys, Jeremiah and Elijah.
Since we couldn’t officially welcome Steven with a reception line or formal celebration in these unique times, we decided to honor and celebrate this new call with a “drive by” parade to celebrate his new role in our church family.
