Scouting
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have been a presence in Griffin and Spalding County since the BSA’s national founding in 1910, with First Baptist Griffin sponsoring Troop 2 continuously since 1927. The relationship is not merely one of necessity but of shared ministry—one third of current troop leadership are active church members, a statistic that is not unique in troop history.
First Baptist Griffin welcomes scout leadership in worship on Scout Sunday, held the first Sunday in February, and contributes to the teaching of various faith related patches. Both Troop 2 and its younger counterpart, Pack 2, meet in the Scout Lodge on First Baptist Griffin’s campus. Our church family is proud to partner in ministry to help boys and men grow in citizenship, character, and faith, which bears the good fruit of more than 55 young men earning the rank of Eagle Scout since 1998.
