Small Groups
Small Groups connect adults in meaningful relationships with one another at times other than Sunday mornings. These groups vary in composition and structure, but they are designed to help adults study God’s Word, care for one another, serve together in ministry, and grow together in fellowship.
Many of our small groups meet on Wednesday nights. Here’s what you can expect if you join us:
Wednesday meal at 5:00 p.m. in Morgan Hall
Our menu changes weekly (and you will find it posted below). We invite you to RSVP for the meal so we can be prepared. Meals cost $8 for adults, $4 for children, $4 for staff members, or $25 for a family. While you can pay at the door by cash or check, we also offer a convenient payment option online.
November 23, 2023
We wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving! The church will be closed for the holiday at noon on November 23, so we will not have a Wednesday meal together. We look forward to seeing you next week, November 30, when Chef Neel will be serving ham, lima beans, mashed potatoes, rolls, and dessert.
Adult Groups
Our Adult small groups meet across campus on Wednesday nights. We also have instrumental ensembles and choral groups that practice on Wednesdays. We invite you to learn more about the particular groups meeting right now by following the Learn More link.

Music Groups
We have a vibrant Music Ministry under the direction of the Director of Worship Arts, Ellee Hilley, and the Minister of Music, Erin Clarke. If you sing or play an instrument, we hope you will consider participating in our ensembles.
Handbell Ensemble
Minister: Ellee Hilley
Location: Handbell Room
Time: 4:30 – 5:15 p.m.
Dates: Wednesdays
About the Handbell Ensemble:
Handbells have been used for music throughout much of human history. They are essentially bells that can be held by a strap in one’s hand. When played in an ensemble, the bells range several octaves and can deliver an entire song without the need for additional instrumentation. These lovely instruments make a great entry point into instrumental music for those who do not yet read music very well.
The Handbell Ensemble performs primarily during the Celebration Service on Sunday mornings several times a year. The group will be practicing regularly under the direction of Ellee Hilley and may make more appearances as the group is prepared.
If you would like more information about the Handbell Ensemble, or if you would like to get involved in this group, please contact Ellee Hilley at elleehilley@fbcgriffin.org.
Instrumental Ensemble (Orchestra)
Minister: Ellee Hilley
Location: Sanctuary
Time: 6:00 -6:45 p.m.
Dates: Wednesdays
About the Instrumental Ensemble:
The FBC Orchestra is composed of volunteer musicians with a wide range of playing experience. Woodwinds, brass, percussion, piano, and stringed instruments are all typically represented in this group. All ages and experience levels are welcome, although musicians who would like to play for the orchestra should already know how to read music. This is open to youth and adults, although instrumentalists should be in at least 8th grade to join, and should have at least two years of experience playing an instrument.
Performances typically feature hymns and prelude or offertory pieces played during the Celebration Service on Sunday mornings.
Practices for the Orchestra will take place weekly (with a few exceptions) and will end with a brief devotional.
Contact Ellee Hilley at elleehilley@fbcgriffin.org for more information on this group.
Sanctuary Choir
Minister: Erin Clarke
Location: Choir Room (2nd Floor)
Time: 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Dates: Wednesdays
About the choir:
The Sanctuary Choir is a group of volunteer singers who meet weekly to prepare hymns and special music for the 9AM Celebration Service on Sunday mornings.
Choir rehearsals are held in the second floor Music Suite on Wednesday nights, 7-8:15PM.
Contact Erin Clarke at erinclarke@fbcgriffin.org for more information.
Ukulele Ensemble
Minister: Ellee Hilley
Location: Instrumental Multipurpose Room
Time: Noon to 1:00 p.m.
Dates: Thursdays
About the Ukulele Ensemble:
The ukulele resembles a small classical acoustic guitar. When you assemble a group of ukulele musicians, you have a recipe for entertainment, fellowship, and personal growth. The FBC Ukulele Ensemble is known around Griffin for its renditions of favorite tunes, both Christian and secular. They regularly play for local community groups and for our church.
If you are looking for a place to get plugged into music without a lot of added stress, then the Ukulele Ensemble might be perfect for you! The Ukulele Ensemble requires no music reading skills, just a desire to learn chords and have fun!
Contact Ellee Hilley at elleehilley@fbcgriffin.org for more information on this group and its performance schedule.
Note: If you are new to the ukulele, the instrument is not difficult to learn. Ask Ellee about the Beginner’s Ukulele lessons offered through FBC.
Worship Team: Praise Band & Vocalists
Minister: Ellee Hilley
Location: Morgan Hall
Times: Vocalists at 6:30 p.m.; Praise Band at 7:00 p.m.
Dates: Wednesdays
About the Praise Band and Vocalists:
The FBC Praise Band is made up of instrumentalists and vocalists who lead in the contemporary worship service each week, engaging the congregation in song. The band resembles typical stage band instrumentation with guitar, keyboard, bass, and drums, though other instruments are welcomed additions. A small ensemble of vocalists lead the singing each week. Play or sing once in a while or often…the worship team works on a rotational format.
Practices are on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings, and are always fun though we do work hard during rehearsal. Don’t read music? Rest easy….Band and vocalists do not need to know how to read music (in fact, we do not read music at all on the worship team), but should be proficient in their instrument or voice. Vocalists are trained by our vocal coach, Orietta Russom, and the band is led by Ellee Hilley. Contact Ellee at elleehilley@fbcgriffin.org to talk about becoming part of our Worship Team rotation!
