As 2023 draws to a close, this is a natural time to look back with gratitude at the way God has been faithful to us and the priorities that have guided us. First Baptist Griffin has been so generous throughout the year as we’ve responded to numerous needs in our community involving the homeless, tornado victims, and the regular ministries of this church. We want to say “thank you” to those who continue to be faithful in giving to these ministries through your regular budget giving.

In this busy time of year, we would like to remind you of the tax rules for year-end charitable giving, as well as options you may want to consider for giving in honor or memory of special people in your life. You may give cash, appreciated stocks or other securities, real estate, life insurance, or a charitable remainder trust. Tax code requires the transfer of ownership to be done prior to midnight, December 31.

You might consider giving in honor or memory of a special person in your life. We have special cards (pictured here) available for you to pick up at the Welcome Center to let someone know you have supported FBC in their honor. You might also want to let them know of the many ways that support benefits their own, local community.

If giving cash, you may bring a check by the church office as late as 12:00 PM on Friday, December 29. If mailing a year-end cash donation, tax code allows a postmark of no later than midnight, December 31. Of course, you may also place your gift in the offering plate by Sunday, December 31. Please remember, funds which are received or converted to cash after December 31 will be posted to the church’s financials in 2024.

For those who want to give but prefer not to use cash or checks, you can give to the church through our website at www.fbcgriffin.org. Click on the GIVE button at the top, right corner of the home page. From the Give page, you will be able to select the amount and the particular fund for your donation. You may also complete an EFT (electronic fund transfer) from your bank. This can be done online with your computer, just as you would pay your bills through your bank’s online bill-pay, or you can go to your bank and set it up in person. (Note: most banks do not charge for online transfers, but please check with your bank first to be sure.) After this is set up, your bank will mail a check to the church and it will be processed and credited to your account.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call Leigh Ann Williams, Church Administrator, at (770) 227-5517. An additional year-end gift to your church reveals your belief in our congregation’s mission and ministry. At FBC, we believe in a grace that gives generously. If you would like to learn more about the many ways your giving to the regular budget impacts our community, we encourage you to visit our Giving in Action series. Thank you for supporting these ministries through your faithful budget giving. May the Lord continue to richly bless you and yours in the coming year!
