First Steps

It is exciting the a child trust Jesus and follows Him. Becoming a Christian is a decision that affects every other choice they make. Given the importance of that decision, we want to invite parents and their kids  to be part of a discipleship process that will complement what parents are already doing to assist their children in growing in Christ. Guiding children to take those first steps toward faith can be the most rewarding opportunity in life for parents. Parents who have growing relationships with Christ should create an environment for a child to be introduced to Him from the first days of life. As a child grows and matures, the knowledge of Jesus will grow. By laying these foundations for spiritual conversion, parents become partners with the Holy Spirit as He prepares and calls children to accept Christ as Savior. 

Beginning March 5th, our grade school program will begin a new Sunday school curriculum called First Step. This eight-week discipleship class will cover how to become a Christian; it will also give a deeper understanding of salvation, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper. We will discuss what it means to be a church member, and the importance of Bible reading, prayer, worship, service, and giving. Additionally, kids will learn how to share their testimony, what it means to live on mission, and how to continue growing in their faith even when times are difficult. This discipleship class will take place during the Sunday school hour (10:15 a.m.) and will run from March 5th through May 7th.

As a kick-off to this new discipleship class, we want to invite your family to an Escape Room event at the church on Saturday, March 4th, at 5:30 p.m. in Morgan Hall. We will hear a few details about the class, enjoy a pizza dinner, and then work together to solve a mystery and “escape” in time.
