Ministries

Whether you’re native or new to the Griffin area, we want you to know that you have a place at First Baptist Griffin where you are loved and nurtured. We hope you will explore the ministry areas where you can settle in and make yourself at home.

Adult Ministries

The aim of Adult Ministries of First Baptist Griffin is to encourage and equip adults of all ages to live out their faith in daily life. We do this by seeking and maintaining a relationship with God by becoming more and more like Christ in beliefs and behaviors. Adults may participate in Bible studies and small groups on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, or at other points throughout the week. We have a vibrant senior adult ministry called XYZ that meets monthly for a special program and a meal. They also travel together for  cultural and educational activities throughout the year.

Children’s Ministry

FBC Griffin Kids serves families with children birth through 5th grade. Our goal is to provide a loving, welcoming, and safe environment that helps children discover God and access the tools they need to become the people God created and called them to be. Recognizing that both the church and families are better together, we strive to partner with and equip parents for their role as faith teachers and leaders in the lives of their children. We offer Sunday School, Children’s Worship, and Wednesday night small groups, as well as various inter-generational experiences throughout the year.

Student Ministry

The Student Ministry at First Baptist Griffin serves students in 6th through 12th grade. We do everything we can to help students encounter the love of Christ, grow in the love of Christ, and share the love of Christ. Students meet on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings for worship, Bible study, and small group activities. They also participate in service projects and inter-generational events throughout the year.

Missions

We have a long history of missions involvement locally, in our state, throughout the United States, and globally. Through missions education, praying, mission involvement, and financial giving our congregation seeks to follow the mandate of Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere — in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Our Women on Mission (WOM) team meets monthly to organize and promote missions projects like Lottie Moon, Annie Armstrong, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Global Missions Offering, and State Missions offerings. They also provide a Teacup Ministry to new members.

Children and Students have opportunities to learn about missions work and complete small missions projects through Bible studies and small groups, but they participate alongside their families in areas like our community garden, Five Loaves and Two Fish Food Pantry, and Fortify (a ministry to foster families).

The Mission Council provides oversight to a variety of local mission efforts supported by FBC Griffin, including the Abundant Life Soup Kitchen, the Spalding Samaritans, LifeSong Ministries, Disaster Response, Grace 127, Fortify, and the Levite Ministry. Additionally, Caregiver Teams meet weekly to accept applications for assistance from those in need in our community. These teams provide food vouchers and gasoline vouchers for transportation to clinics, hospitals, or doctor appointments.

Besides supporting mission workers around the world through prayers and offerings, FBC Griffin is an Encourager Church for CBF field personnel Missy Ward-Angalla in Uganda and Anna and LaCount Anderson in North Carolina. We are a proud supporter of Hundley and Jennifer Harkleroad, who serve with Willing to Go to provide support to church starters and other missionaries by leading short term mission trips.
